How To Become a Super Affiliate

How You Can Become a Super Affiliate

Affiliate marketing allows you to work at home and have flexible work hours.

Affiliate marketing means that you’ll be promoting other merchants’ products. The affiliate will get a commission when someone clicks on the merchant’s website and purchases through an affiliate link.

Affiliate marketing is attracting many people as it is considered one of the best and easiest ways to earn money online. Affiliate marketing can be a lucrative business. It seems easy, but success doesn’t happen overnight for most people. To get great results, you’ll have to learn some Internet marketing basics and it takes some perseverance to get good at it.

Here are some tips to be better than most affiliates and outwit some of your  competitors.

Here’s how you can become a super affiliate:

  1. Get your own website or blog.
  2. Focus on a niche market.
  3. Provide good content.
  4. Write your own ads.
  5. Build a list.
  6. Develop a relationship with your list.
  7. Continue to market to your list.
  8. Build traffic to your site.

How to Set Yourself Apart From Other Affiliates

The most important thing one should remember if you want to become a super affiliate is to treat affiliate marketing as a business. If you’re doing this, a career as a super affiliate will change your life forever and could possibly replace your 9-5 job.

1. The first thing is to have your own website or blog.

I know you’ve been told that you don’t need a website to promote affiliate programs. And it’s true. There are several ways that you can promote affiliate programs.  You can send people directly to the merchant’s web site through your affiliate link. You can promote affiliate programs through email and social networking. However, you can be a lot more successful with affiliate marketing and do so much more if you have your own website. It is essential for you to have your own website or blog if you’re considering affiliate marketing as your professional career.

Potential customers go to websites to search and sometimes purchase items they are looking for. When you have a website, you can capture your visitors’ email addresses so you can stay in touch with them, remind them of the affiliate product and promote additional product. You can presell your visitors and then send them to the merchant’s website through your affiliate link.

I recommend getting a WordPress blog. Get a domain name related to the topic of your site and get hosting.  You can find more info about getting hosting here. Get my domain name recommendations here.

2. Focus on a niche market. Don’t try to market everything you see. It’s better to focus on one market and market products that your audience wants. This is called niche marketing. Promote products that cater to the needs and wants of your chosen market segment.

3. Provide good content.

You can use private label (PLR) content, use as is, or rewrite and reposition private label content. See more info about Private label content here.

In addition, have some unique content that is only available on your website. The best way to get people to keep coming to your site is by having something on your site that they can’t find on others.

Choose a certain market segment where you can have a potential leadership role.

4. Write your own ads. A lot of times affiliates marketers are using the ads that are provided by the merchants.  That means that many people are using the same ads. If you write your own ad, you might get more attention. Besides, your primarily purpose is to attract or encourage people to read your ads and be curious enough to click through your website.

5. Build a list.
Building a list will enable you to market to your list over and over again. You’ve heard it before. The money is in the list. A targeted list is the key to being successful. See more info here on how to build a list.

6. Develop a strong relationship with prospects and buyers.

Creating a loyal customer base and developing good customer relationships is the secret of successful super affiliates. That involves sending them quality content regularly. To be able to answer your potential customers’ questions, it is best to buy and try the product yourself. This will make it easier for you to sell the product that you are trying to market. You can share to your potential customers what a great experience you had with the product, and this can make them interested enough to buy the product.

You may also be able to provide a tutorial or steps on how to use the product that you are marketing based on your personal experience.

Be totally honest about the product that you are trying to market. If you find out that the program you were promoting is a scam, stop promoting it and inform your readers about it. This will help you build credibility. We all make mistakes and admitting your mistake will boost your reader’s confidence in you.

7. Continue to market to your list.

8. Build traffic to you site.  Building traffic is one of the most essential parts of affiliate marketing. See free traffic methods here.

Affiliate marketing can become a great way to earn extra or even part time income. However, it won’t happen overnight. Like any kind of business or job, you’re going to have to put work into it. Good luck to you in your new venture.

Automate Your Online Business With Clickbank

“Discover How You Can Sell Your Product on Clickbank, Tap Into Thousands of Affiliates And Automate Your Sales Process”

Announcing The Brand New, 10 Part, Step By Step Video Course:

If you’re not technical savvy, don’t worry.  Simply look over my shoulder as I’m showing you step by step how to set up your product on Clickbank and automate the sales process.

Dear Product Owner,

  • Do you have an electronic product for sale, e.g. ebook, software or online videos?
  • Do you want to accept payments online?
  • Do you want to automate your sales process?
  • Do you want to have lots of affiliates selling your products?
  • Are you interested in getting your products on Clickbank but don’t know how to start?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you’ll want to sell your products on Clickbank.

Why you should put your products on Clickbank.

  • Clickbank is the best known marketplace for selling digital products. Clickbank completes nearly 20,000 orders from more than 200 countries around the world daily.
  • Clickbank is a shopping cart, payment processor and affiliate program all built into one.
  • Clickbank saves you the hassle and expense of setting up your own payment system. Clickbank makes it easy for you to accept credit cards and echecks online without having to pay for a shopping cart or getting your own merchant account. Clickbank takes care of taking payments from your customers.
  • Putting your product on Clickbank automates your sales process. People can order from you 24/7. They can pay online, their payment is automatically verified and they automatically receive their product download link and an email thanking them for their purchase.
  • One of the biggest benefits of selling your digital products on Clickbank is that Clickbank gives you easy exposure to affiliates. Clickbank has over 100,000 affiliates who can sell your products. Clickbank is the first place where affiliates go look for products to promote.
  • Clickbank also manages your affiliate program. You don’t have to buy or install affiliate software. They will bill your customers, pay you and even pay your affiliates which is a big time saver.

So if you are selling electronic products, I highly recommend putting your products on Clickbank.  Keep in mind that you are only allowed to sell digital product such as ebooks, electronic videos and software. Clickbank won’t accept physical products.

So how do you go about putting your products on Clickbank?

Clickbank provides information on their site on how to put your products on their marketplace, but they don’t cover everything in video detail. Also, many of their tutorials assume that you already know how to do certain basic tasks. That’s why many people are confused, don’t know where to start, or they miss a step and they give up and become frustrated and overwhelmed. And they’re missing out on all the Clickbank benefits because they were not able to get their product on Clickbank.

The Clickbank setup really isn’t too technical and any newbie can do this with the right instructions. That’s why I’m introducting  a step-by-step training course that will show you how to add your products to the Clickbank Marketplace. And this video course will cover every detail of the process.

How To Attract Affiliates

Affiliates have thousands of affiliate programs they can choose from. They want to know why they should promote your product over other available affiliate products.

So, how do you motivate affiliates to promote your products?

Have a quality product

Have a compelling affiliate promotion page

An affiliate promotion page needs to provide  useful information for affiliates and highlight how affiliates can benefit from promoting your product. Here are some of the benefits that affiliates look for:

  • High commission earned per sale.
  • Recurring commissions (e.g. subscription or membership products.)
  • Good conversion rate (ratio of visitors to a site who buy).  Mention how well the sales page converts.  Be honest.  If you claim high conversions and are dishonest, affiliates will stop promoting your current products and won’t promote any future affiliate products you’ll have available.

TIP: Affiliates aren’t going to line up to promote your products if it’s not selling. You’re going to need to get some traffic and make some sales yourself to be able to know your conversion rate and you may have to tweak your sale page until it’s good enough to attract quality affiliates to your offer.

  • Low refund rate (which indicates that you have a quality product).
  • Provide great support to affiliates.
  • Highlight how your product benefits affiliates.
  • Provide a short product description. Mention anything that’s unique or interesting about your product. Mention if the product is in a “hot” niche.

Provide Affiliate Tools

Make it as easy as possible for your affiliates to promote your products.

Provide attractive banner ads, ebook covers, buttons, graphics  that they can put on their site with their affiliate link to your product.

It’s a good idea to provide a wide variety of graphics in different sizes and formats. Hiring a graphic designer to design images for you and creating a useful and attractive page for affiliates is an excellent investment in your product that can easily pay for itself.

Other tools can include text ads, email messages, articles, etc.

Suggest keywords that relate to your product, which affiliate can bid on in paid advertising, or try to rank in search engines to drive free traffic to your website.

Provide as much information as possible to made the affiliate’s job easier and you’ll have a great start to attract affiliates.

Here’s the legal mumbo jumbo:

I only recommend products I believe in whether they have affiliate programs or not. I have used all the products I’m recommending here either for my own web sites or clients’ web sites. Some links are affiliate links, and if you click on an affiliate link and purchase something, I might get paid a small commission.

What’s Involved In Setting Up An Affiliate Program

There is more involved in setting up an affiliate program than meets the eye. See some of the steps below.

1. Determine which affiliate software or network you will use. See more info here about affiliate software and affiliate networks.

2. Set up the settings in the affiliate program. This involves providing some information in the software.

  • Company name.
  • Contact information. You usually have an option to provide your contact information for billing and different contact information affiliates will see.
  • Web site url.
  • Product name and product description.  If you have multiple products, you’ll have to set up each product  separately.
  • Price of products.
  • How much commission (%) you’ll pay in first tier.
  • How much commission (%) you’ll pay in 2d tier – if any
  • Links (urls) to the different information pages (faq, sales letter, agreement)

3. Create several web pages:

  • Product sales page   (you probably already have that).
  • Affiliate page (affiliate sales page) mentioning the benefits of your program, why they should join, how much commission you’re paying, and how to sign up (link to affiliate software).
  • Affiliate tools page (see more info below)
  • Affiliate agreement/terms of service – what affiliates can do and what they can’t.
  • If you don’t want them to use the product name and url in PPC, SEO and domain, this is where you would mention it (I recommend NOT restricting them).
  • Thank you page or thank you email message (thanks for joining the affiliate program).
  • Affiliate FAQ page – This answers questions affiliate may have, e.g. how the commissions work and how the tracking works.

4. Provide affiliates with tools they can use to help them sell your products.

This is very important. You want to make it as easy as possible for affiliates to promote your products.

Affiliate tools can include:

  • A variety of banners in different sizes. Many affiliates only know how to place a banner. If you don’t provide banners, you’ll lose affiliates. I recommend 5 to 10 banners. You should have a variety of sizes. Some people only have room for a small rectagular ad and others like large wide banners.  The best way to see examples is to create a free account with clickbank and Commission Junction and look at what banners people are using for your type of products.
  • Content affiliates can use for their blogs (articles, reviews, tips, email messages, autoresponder messages, etc.).
  • Articles for affiliate to use. The more the better.
  • Product reviews affiliates can use.
  • Text ads. I recommend 5 to 10 text ads.
  • Email messages affiliates can use for their email promotions. These can be text and/or HTML emails.
  • Autoresponder messages affiliates can send to their subscribers.
  • 3-5 part course for affiliates to send to their subscribers.
  • Sample PPC ads.
  • Code for popup, popunder, etc.
  • Videos affiliates can use.
  • Create an SEO and PPC keyword list for affiliates.
  • More advanced marketers also provide training materials and tutorials for affiliates.

5. Upload your pages to the host

If you don’t have hosting for your website yet, see my hosting recommendations here.

You’ll need an FTP program to upload your pages to your host.

6. Promote your affiliate program

See more info here on how to promote your affiliate program.

If you want to set up your own affiliate program, I recommend reading this book:

Here’s the legal mumbo jumbo:

I only recommend products I believe in whether they have affiliate programs or not.  I have used all the products I’m recommending here either for my own web sites or clients’ web sites. Some links are affiliate links, and if you click on an affiliate link and purchase something, I might get paid a small commission.

Why You Need An Affiliate Program For Your Products

Why should you set up affiliate programs to promote your products or services?

Having an affiliate program is a very effective low-cost internet advertising strategy.

Here are some reasons for setting up an affiliate program for your products and services:

  • Affiliate programs are an unbeatable source of highly targeted traffic.  If you don’t have an affiliate program, you’re leaving some money on the table.
  • You’ll get additional exposure and more sales.
  • You’ll reach a market and make additional sales you would not get otherwise.
  • You can make additional backend sales.
  • Risk free: there is no advertising risk.  You only pay affiliates for sales.  If the visitor doesn’t buy, you pay nothing.
  • Affiliate programs can significantly boost product branding.

Get extra exposure from affiliates

If you promote a product by yourself, you are limited to your own site traffic and any traffic you can purchase. But if you have an affiliate program, your product information will be promoted on other websites (your affiliates’ websites)  and sent out to your affiliates’ mailing lists without any extra work to you. This makes this a risk-free way to promote your products.

Get access to markets you don’t have access to yourself

Affiliates can often reach prospects that you don’t. Your affiliates will have access to markets that you’ve never touched and you will be able to reach niches you never would have thought of or found yourself.

You’re also getting sales that you probably would not have made without the affiliates.

Having an affiliate program can increase your sales volume to a figure beyond what would even be possible with a massive budget and effort on your part.

All sales are profitable

When advertising, you don’t know if your advertising will be profitable. When getting sales through your affiliates, you’ll make a profit on every single sale. You only pay affiliates for sales. If the visitor doesn’t buy, you pay nothing.

You’re missing out on sales if you don’t have an affiliate program. Once, you try it for one product and see the additional sales coming in, you’ll want to set up an affiliate program for all your products.

Make additional backend sales

You can also make additional money in the backend. After customers makes their first purchase, you should capture them in your autoresponder sequences and offer them other products. Not only will you make more sales, but you’ll build a larger list and have more people to sell backend products to.

Here’s some tips on making your affiliate program attractive to affiliates:

Affiliates can choose from many products. You must make your affiliate program attractive for affiliates to motivate them to sell your products instead of other people’s products.

First, it’s important to have a professional-looking sales page that converts. Mention how well your sales page converts.

Higher-priced products will attract more affiliates as they can make more commission.   If you’re sell a $7 ebook, there is not enough profits for affiliates to sell it.

You will also want to offer a generous commission to affiliates. I would suggest paying a minimum of 50% commissions. Obviously, paying those kinds of commissions works when selling digital products but not for physical products as you’ll have a product cost. Places like Amazon, Commission Junction who are selling physical products are offering much lower commissions – which often around 3 to 7% percent.

Additionally, you will want to make it as easy as possible for affiliate to sell your products. You can do that by providing tools your affiliates can use to promote your products.  Tools can text links, banners, email messages, autoresponder messages, blog posts, product reviews and even videos. The more tools you give affiliates, the better.

Make Money With Affiliate Programs

Affiliate marketing is the best way for new Internet entrepreneurs to get started. This article discusses how you can make money as an affiliate.

If you’re a merchant who wants to make your product available for promotion by affiliates, check my article on how to set up an affiliate program for your products.

What is affiliate marketing?

Affiliate marketing is an arrangement between an online merchant and affiliate, in which the affiliate earns a commission for generating sales, leads and/or clicks for the merchant’s website.

Benefits of affiliate programs:

  • You can make money almost immediately.
  • You don’t have to create your own product.
  • You don’t have to deal with payment processors (don’t need a merchant account)
  • You don’t have inventory expenses.
  • You don’t have to carry or ship products.
  • You don’t have to spend time processing orders, refunds or returns.
  • The only work of the webmaster is to promote the merchant’s site.
  • It’s one of the fastest and best ways to get started in online marketing.

How it works:

Typically, you’ll find one or more affiliate programs and add your affiliate link to your website. There are ways to promote affiliate programs without a website but you’ll have more possibilities if you have a website or blog.

As an affiliate, you will be provided with a unique affiliate-id, links, and banners  to promote the merchant’s products. You display text links and/or banners on your website. You can also provide affiliate links in emails and newsletters. Whenever a visitor to your site clicks the links/banners, they’ll be redirected to the merchant. If someone purchases through your link, you’ll get a commission!

As an affiliate you can earn from 5% to 75% and more in commissions. Many digital products pay 50% and more commissions.

There are many directories specializing in listing affiliate programs. Here are some of the popular ones:
  • Clickbank (for electronic products only)
  • Commission Junction (CJ)
  • ShareASale

Rosalind Gardner, author of the Super Affiliate Handbook,  is one of the best affiliate marketers I know. Her book is one of the first books I purchased about affiliate marketing and it’s still one of the best for beginners. Her book is FANTASTIC, but her recently released multi-media training program goes SO much farther!

The advantage of the Academy over the handbook is that it is constantly being updated.

Affiliate Blogger Pro includes:

  • Step-by-step written tutorials.
  • Video training to SHOW you how everything works.
  • A super helpful and friendly forum.
  • and much MUCH more…

And unlike so many gurus, Rosalind responds to members’ questions herself. She also has a team of experts who specialize in site building and design, copywriting and marketing. She actually does what she teaches and you get to watch as she works her magic online…using blogging … and learn how to do the same!

Ros stands by her products & students for YEARS… so you can count on her over the long term.

I HIGHLY recommend that you invest in your future and join Affiliate Blogger Pro, Rosalind’s training program today. She offers a money-back guarantee so you have  nothing to lose!

Here’s the legal mumbo jumbo:

I only recommend products I believe in whether they have affiliate programs or not.  I have used most of the products I’m recommending for my own web sites or clients’ web sites. Some links are affiliate links, and if you click on an affiliate link and purchase something, I might get paid a small commission and it won’t cost you a dime more.
