To get free traffic, you’ll invest your time and energy instead of money.

  1. SEO – Optimize your website or blog for search engines to get organic (free) search engine listings. You’ll need to do both on-site and off-site SEO. Read more about SEO here.
  2. Post frequently on your blog.  The more often you post, the better SEO results you can expect.  You can expect 30% increase in traffic when posting every day. Google likes blogs, especially blogs that provide new quality content on a regular basis. Additional benefits of blogs include fast search engine indexing because of ping services, blog directories and blog search engines.
  3. Automatically post to facebook and Twitter. Install plugins in your WordPress blog so that your blog posts will automatically be announced to your Facebook and  Twitter.

  19. Set up an affiliate program and have your affiliates promote your products or services. You’ll have to pay commissions but it won’t cost any money up front as you’ll only pay commissions for sales (and optionally for leads.)

  22. Write a compelling signature to use when posting in forums, posting comments in blogs, submitting articles to articles sites and anywhere else you’re posting.
  23. Leave useful comments on blogs in your niche with a link back to your blog or site. Blog commenting is a great way to get targeted visitors to your blog who will be interested in your content and products.  Do a search on Google for relevant blogs in your niche. Find blogs that have a lot of traffic and activity, and are seen as somewhat as an authority in your niche.   31. Swap banners. Make a banner ad for your site and ask another webmaster to do the same for his site. Then swap! This is a variation of link exchanges.

  33. Word of mouth and offline promotions. Tell everyone about your site. Mention your website, its URL and benefits in daily conversations and spread the news!
  34. Using Your Email Signature
    Your email signature is a powerful way to promote your site. Most email programs have the ability to append an automatic signature (or “sig file”) to your outgoing emails. Just search in the help file of your email program under “signature” to find directions on how to create your email signature.
  35. Create a sitemap. An XML sitemap tells Google that you published new content and makes it easier for Google to index your pages. A sitemap makes all your site content available to the bots on one page.

As you can see, there are many free traffic methods available you can implement if you don’t have money to invest or don’t want to spend money until you start making money with your Internet business.

Once you start making some, you may want to consider spending money on promotion and advertising in addition of using free internet marketing methods. The more you promote, the faster you’ll build your internet business.
