If it's not easy for prospects to buy, they won't. Use this checklist to find and avoid obstacles on your website that cost sales.

  • Are you providing plenty of links to your products/services page and order form?

  • Do you provide a link to your contact information on every page? Do you provide a phone number and email address?

Do you provide the information your customers need to buy your products or services? This may include:

  • Product listing and pricelist.
  • Answers to frequently-asked questions (FAQ).
  • Service information and warranties.
  • What your products or services can do.
  • Who your products or services are useful to.
  • How customers use your products or services.
  • Tips for buying your products or services (to help prospects make an informed decision).
  • A photograph of your product or another image representing your product such as an ebook cover or DVD cover.

Payment and Ordering Options

Is it convenient for buyers to place orders?

  • Do you accept MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Discover, Paypal and echecks? The majority of Internet users will order online with credit cards. Few people will mail a check or money order, so if you're not accepting credit cards online, you will lose sales.
  • Is your order form clear? Is every part of your order form working?
  • Can your prospects order online through a secure order form or shopping cart?
  • Is your checkout process easy? Ask the least amount of info before clicking the checkout button. If customers must choose whether they have an existing account or not before they can complete their order, they might get confused and abandon the shopping cart and your conversions will drop.
  • Is your payment system and product delivery automated so people can order and download their ebook, software or other digital product 24/7?
  • Do you provide alternative options for those who don't feel comfortable ordering online such as ordering by phone, fax, and postal mail and sending a money order?

For testimonials to be credible, you have to mention the full name, business and location of the people who gave you testimonials. Ask happy customers for testimonials!

Back up your claims and provide credibility by citing research studies and statistics and providing quotes from experts and trusted websites in your field.

Provide links to websites that people know and trust to support your claims. This shows that you’ve done your research. And you benefit from the trust these sites and experts have.
