To Make Money With Your Blog

make money blogging

“How can I make money with I my website or blog?” This is a question many people ask.

There are many ways to make money with your site or blog. Some are easier to implement than others. Choose the methods that fits best for you, your site, niche and interests. When choosing ways to monetize your website or blog, make sure you target your audience and offer quality products or services that will benefit your audience.

Monetizing doesn’t have to take a lot of time. When you find quality, targeted ads or products, they can work for you for a long time. You might want to test several offers and see which products convert well. Once in a while you might want to replace less converting offers with others but it’s not something you have to do every day.

10+  Popular Ways to Monetize your site or blog:

There are many ways to make money from your website or blog. Here are some of the most popular ones:

1. Build a list.

Building a list of targeted, prospective customers is one of the most powerful methods to make money with your niche blog. Use an opt-in form to encourage people to provide their email address by offering a free ebook, report or newsletter. When you have their email address you can keep following up with them, send them your newsletter, product offers, affiliate links and plenty of useful, free info to build rapport.

I recommend Aweber, one of the best autoresponders on the market to automate your list building. Watch a video to find out how you can build your list automatically, follow up automatically at a schedule you set and turn pospects into buyers with autoresponders. Also check the video on how to create email newsletters.

2. Sell services.

  • Built authority on your subject and show your expertise through your blog and sell related products or services.
  • Promote services such as web design, graphic design, programming, writing, editing, transcription, administrative services and internet marketing services.
  • Offer coaching, training or consulting services. Show your expertise and build authority by providing great information on your site/blog and offer consulting services to clients with related problems and needs.
  • Promote webinars or live events.
  • Promote your public speaking services.

3. Sell products

You can sell your own products or other people’s products.

  • Sell electronic information products such as ebooks, reports, software (plugins, apps), audio, video, templates, webinars and e-courses.
  • Sell physical products, e.g. hardcover books, DVDs or other merchandise.

4. Add Google AdSense ads to your site.

Many bloggers monetize their blog with Adsense. Google AdSense is easy to implement. Some of the benefits of AdSense ads are that you don’t have to sell, you get paid for clicks even if nobody buys anything. The ads update automatically.  You don’t  have to search for new ads all the time although you want to check them occasionally to make sure the ads are targeted to your site. If they’re not, just adjust your keywords. You can put targeted Adsense ads on your existing blog or build niche suites to monetize your sites. Some people make a lot of money while others make pennies. To make money with Adsense, you need a lot of traffic.

5. Promote affiliate programs.

Affiliate marketing is one of the most popular ways to make money with your blog.  Affiliate products can pay 40 to 75% in commissions and higher. In addition to the high commissions, another reason for the popularity of affiliate marketing is that you can start monetizing your blog right away even if you don’t have your own products. You can sell other people’s products as an affiliate.  And even if you have your own products, you should offer related products or services through affiliate programs so you’ll have more resources to offer to your audience.

There are many different types of affiliate ads that can help you monetize your blog.  You can find products that fit your niche through networks such as ClickBankPayDotCom, Commission Junction, Linkshare, Amazon, eBay and many others. or you can find individual programs. eBay has an affiliate program and you can promote their auctions.

6. Add CPA ads to promote CPA campaigns. CPA stands for “Cost Per Action.”  CPA programs are similar to affiliate programs but instead of getting paid per sale, you’re getting paid by action.  You don’t have to make a sale to make money! CPA ads pay you when someone takes a particular action such as giving their email address, zip code or signing up for a free trial offer.  CPA ads can make a great deal of money, but they often expire quickly so you must check them and update them often.

7. Add CPM ads. CPM stands for  Cost per mile  which means cost per thousand. CPM ads are also called CPI (cost per impression). Find out more about CPA, CPM and more here.

8. Join Advertising Networks like Adbrite, Chitika and others.

You can make money from advertising networks. Basically, you place ads from revenue sharing advertising networks on your pages and you’ll get paid each time visitors click on any of the ads displayed on your site. Here’s some tips on getting the best results from those ads:

  • Insert the ads in your content.
  • Match the look of the ads to the look of your content (color of links, font type, text size, etc) as much as possible. Making them look like  internal links rather than ads will increase your clickthrough rate and your earnings.

9. Set up an affiliate program for your own products . If you have your own products, set up an affiliate program for your products so that affiliates can sell your products. This will give you additional sales from sources you wouldn’t be able to reach otherwise. This is one of the best ways to make additional money from your website.

10. Sell PRL products  – Selling (Private Label Rights) PLR ebooks, videos and software are a popular method to monetize your blog and bring in instant cash.  When buying PRL, you buy the rights to a product so you can brand it and sell it as your own. It makes it possible to start making money right away when you don’t have your own products.  I recommend modifying the PLR to differentiate yourself from others who sell the same product.

11. Sell advertising.  Charge other webmasters to get an ad on your blog. To interest advertisers, you’ll have to get a good amount of traffic. Typically, advertisers are looking for blogs that have the same audience but have non-competing products.

12. Place ads from revenue sharing advertising networks

You can make money from advertising networks. Basically, you join revenue sharing advertising networks like Adbrite, Chitika and others. Then you place ads from those networks on your pages and you’ll get paid each time visitors click on any of the ads on your site. Here’s some tips on getting the best results from those ads:

  • Insert them in to your content.
  • Match their look to the look of your content (color of links, font type, text size, etc) as much as possible. Making them look like  internal links rather than ads will increase your clickthrough rate and your earnings (the same is true for Adsense ads).

13. Sponsored posts.

Once you have your monetization in place, you should spend the majority of your time getting traffic to your site. The more traffic you’ll get, the more money you’ll be able to make from your website. Promote your blog on an ongoing basis. Your sales will increase as the number of visitors increases.

14. Memberships and recurrent income

When promoting memberships, you’ll earn recurrent income  and will make money every month as long as people belong to the membership.  You’ll need specialized software to create a membership site and it’s best to have some Internet marketing experience before setting up your own membership. You’ll have to offer value to your members which means you’ll have to provide new content on a regular basis. But you can also promote other people’s memberships as an affiliate, e.g. some Private Label membership sites and software membership sites.  A good example of products that offer recurrent income is web hosting and shopping carts.

15. Ask for donations

Asking for donations on your blog can be another way to monetize your blog. Asking for donations is a great way to generate money for non-profits but any web site can request donations. Check out Paypal’s donation button which is an easy and inexpensive way to set up donation requests.

Focus on getting traffic

Once you have your monetization in place, you should spend the majority of your time getting traffic to your site. The more traffic you’ll get, the more money you’ll be able to make from your website. Promote your blog on an ongoing basis. Your sales will increase as the number of visitors increases.

Here’s the legal mumbo jumbo:

I only recommend products I believe in whether they have affiliate programs or not. I have used all the products I’m recommending here either for my own web sites or clients’ web sites. Some links are affiliate links, and if you click on an affiliate link and purchase something, I might get paid a small commission.
