Submit Your Business or Services to Local Directories
and Specialized Directories

To Reach Customers in Your Area

People search the Internet and use online directories when they are ready to buy. You want to make sure that your business is in front of your customers when they search for your products and services.

There are many ways to target local customers online. Here are a few:

  • Google Places/Google Maps/Google +. If you don’t have a free business listing in Google Maps / Google Places /  Google+ , set that up right away. This is very important today. See more info about Google Places here.
  • Yahoo Local listings (free and paid listings).
  • Get FREE listings in local directories. Many people browse local directories when they need a certain service or product.

  • Examples of local directories include Yellowpages.com, superpages.com, yellowbook.com, Google+ Local, Yahoo Local, Bing Local, Manta, Angie's List, Merchant Circle, USDirectory.com, whitepages.com, Foursquare, localpages, citysearch, and more.

It makes sense for every business to have a listing in as many local directories as possible to improve local search rankings, attract customers, get more exposure, get brand recognition and increase trust. Being seen across various local directories will increase brand recogniton and trust.

  • Get PAID listings in local directories.
  • Get free and paid listings in specialized directories. Does your industry have specilized directories?  For example, there are specialized (free and paid) directories for the medicaland dental industries, restaurants and many other industries.
  • Review sites. Reviews sites have become very important for local businesses as they often are listed on the first page of the Google search results.  Ask your customers to post reviews on review sites.  Local review sites include Yelp.com and others.
  • Put ads in popular classified sites. Craigslist works well for a lot of services.
  • Local Pay Per Click ads that allow you to target areas by zip code. For example, you can target zip codes with Google Adwords and many other pay per click search engines.
  • Low fee PPC search engines. There are many PPC search engines besides Google Adwords and MSN where you can get traffic for a penny per click. This is a great way to get a large amount of low-cost traffic fast.

Additional ways to get local traffic

  • Paid advertising on Facebook. Facebook is one of the largest websites in the world, with more than 500 million monthly users and is one of the most effective places for targeted advertising today.
  • Linkedin. Regardless of the kind of business and industry you're in, you should build professional relationships and you can do that on Linkedin. In order to build and maintain valuable relationships, you must commit your time and effort. Get more information on how to be successful with Linkedin here.

The possibilities to get traffic are endless. Your main focus should be on getting targeted traffic by knowing and targeting your audience.
