How To Optimize Google Places

Hey there! Some links on this page are affiliate links which means that, if you choose to make a purchase, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. I greatly appreciate your support!

It's very important to be listed and rank well in Google Local Business because Google Local Business listings (Google Maps) is the first thing that shows up in Google's search results right below Google's Adwords ads.

So how do you rank on top of  Google's Local Business listings?

You need keywords, images, citations, back links, reviews and videos.

  • On-page optimization (include your keywords in your description).
  • Images and videos: Have at least 5 pictures and 1 video.
  • Get citations. A citation is a mention of your business name, address and phone number. The citation can be in directories, reviews sites, social networking sites (Facebook, Twitter),  business associations and more.
  • Get listed in specialty review sites, for example: Rate MDs for medical services.
  • Reviews: Get as many reviews in as many review sites as you can get, including Google Places, Kudzu, CitysearchYellowpages and more.
  • Fill out your Google maps.
